We had a very moving remembrance day service taken by Jane Dryden. During the service members of the congregation lit candles and laid poppies on the alter as an act of remembrance. The children made pictures of poppies during Sunday school and these were also added to the display.
We were pleased to be the venue for the wedding of Imogen and Philip. Theirs was a steampunk wedding with many of the congregation taking the opportunity of embracing the theme themselves.
The theme this year was Hollywood. It was a lovely hot day and we enjoyed meeting new and old friends.
Tonight we had a fund raising event for prostate cancer and were entertained by Catton Community Choir. They sung a selection of songs from oscar nominated/winning shows and films. We were treated to songs from Mama Mia, Les Miserables, and Mary Poppins among others and finished with a compilation of songs from the James Bond films.
During our Easter Day – Resurrection Sunday we dress the cross with flowers. After the service the cross was re-positioned outside the church for all to see.
The church was full with family and friends on Ezekiel’s big day. He was very well behaved and it was wonderful to see so many people here welcoming him into the church family.
We were please to celebrate with Jason & Gladis at their wedding, we wish them all the very best for their future together.
We held a flowers and cake event to raise money for our chosen charity. There was a demonstration of flower arranging using seasonal colours. There were home made cakes severed with tea and coffee during the break.
